Chandra Tal Lake

Chandratal or Chandra Tal or Chandra Taal or Chander Taal or simply Moon Lake is located at the height of 4300 in Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The name of the lake originates from its crescent shape. Lake is accessible from Batal or Kunzum Pass on foot. There is also a motorable road from Batal which is 14km away from Chandra Tal lake. During springtime, these meadows are carpeted with hundreds of kinds of wildflowers. Very cold during winter and temperature may drop well below even -20 degrees. Although cold during summer, snowfall can happen any time of the year. Do not forget to take heavy woolens any time of the year if you are going. The best time to visit Chandratal is from June end to September end.
