The native people of Nagaland are called Angami naga and this village in Nagaland is one of the villages inhabited by these people. This is situated at a distance of about 20 km from Kohima. This village is the ideal place for you to understand Nagaland is all about as this is the oldest of all Nagaland Districts. The place is also the home of the endangered bird species called Blyth’s tragopan. The whole village is covered with green lush landscapes and gives you a perfect spot to click some great photos.

Kiphire

This is a small town located at about 250Kms from the capital and this is the state that borders Myanmar. The town is inhabited people of 3 tribal community - Sangam, Yimchunger and Sema. Much like the previous attraction, this is yet another place for you to understand the natural depth of Nagaland and the culture of Nagas. The geography of the villages so gifted that it is located in between two mountains and thus it receives a good amount of rainfall every year. The climatic conditions very much favour agriculture irrespective of the season. The foothills of both the mountains during winter are used to grow fruits like apple, orange, Guava and Banana. Tuensang

Tuensang is an administrative town in the east of the state. The town is well maintained and has wonderful connectivity due to the public transportation available in abundance. This place cannot be described as most others in this article. The whole town itself is an experience and the unique festivals make it more beautiful. The tribal classes found in this place are - Changs, Sangtams, Yimchunger, and Khiamniungans. The place is cloudy most of the times and it is one of the highest rainfall receiving places in India with an average rainfall of about 2000mm every year. With shops and other necessary facilities available easily, this turns out to be one of the best places in Nagaland to have a unique vacation with the family. Also, the culture, tradition and lifestyle of the Naga’s attract a large tourist crowd to this place every year.

Mon

Mon is one of the offbeat destinations that need to be explored in particular. Even though this is one of the most backward towns in India, this receives a good amount of tourist year on year. The tribal class called Konyak Nagas are considered to be the majority in this district of Nagaland. In fact, the local people are found with tattoos on the face. Maize and few other vegetables are grown in abundance in this place. You can treat yourself with the traditional music and dance on any of the evenings during the festival season. In addition to this, the place is also home for one of the biggest wildlife sanctuaries in Nagaland called Singphan Wildlife Sanctuary.

Touphema

Touphema is an ancient heritage village designed in the form of traditional huts and cottages. The village was built with the support of the native people and also the tourism board played a vital role in the making of this village as this holds significance in terms of a number of people travelling to Nagaland. You can stay probably a night or two in the traditional huts. The huts pretty much have all the basic facilities that one would need. The evenings are much more beautiful than the days, as you can expect them to treat you with authentic dishes like Galo, fish along with the traditional dances as well.
