It's no secret that you can do a lot of different things and experiment when you travel. Most tourists would just settle for the highlights during a vacation but what makes a vacation truly special is going off the rails and books to explore a place through its roots. I know for a fact that there are a lot of paths that have been untouched in most of the places in the world as we speak. But I would like to throw some light on the unusual things that can make your vacation in Bali much more special for you. So here are a couple of things that might interest you.

Participate in traditional games of mud wrestling

Bali is definitely not sure of rice fields, but along with that, there is an abundance of land here for you to play games as well. Let's go back to the times when we could engage in mud games as a kid. Mepantigan is a fun cultural game that is staged in a pile of mud. It is known to boost physical fitness, relieve stress, and build character in the Balinese tradition. It's more of martial art with a twist that carries out games like frog catching, tug of war, mud dancing or massage, and many more. You can either go engage in this yourself or just choose to spectate as well.

Snorkel Through the Underwater Temple Garden in Nusa Lembongan

Over the years, the unique Buddha statues here have become home to the corals here. All you have to do is to get to Nusa Lembongan and get yourself a guide who can take you to the underwater temple and manta ray point near Penida. What better than snorkeling your way through the underwater temple plus the corals around? Doesn't it sound like heaven on earth? Be sure to try it as you can't find underwater temples everywhere when you go snorkeling.

Wander Around the Rugged Tunnel Cliffs in Nusa Penida

Even though Bali is known for its coastlines and beaches, you wouldn't want to miss the underground tunnels at the Broken Beach that are carved out due to years of erosion and waves bashing upon. Do make sure that you visit when the tides are low, only then you would be able to check the tunnels out.

Get the chills at the ghost palace hotel

This was supposed to be PI Bedugul Taman Rekreasi Hotel & Resort, but now is just an abandoned hotel left-back by its bygone grandeur. If you have a strong heart and would want a scary but real experience you should visit this ghost house that is now empty and not serving its purpose as it is. It is infamous for the phantoms of laborers who were killed during its construction.

Visit some lost planes

Weirdly Bali has a lot of abandoned airplanes lying around that can be explored for free. Places like Boeing 737 Kuta, Gate 88 Mall, Boeing 737 in the Bukit Peninsula that create different backdrops and are very just lying popped upon the roads just like that. The most accessible and famous one is the aged white Boeing 737. Feel free to go get yourself some Instagram worthy snaps here!

Swim with the sharks

Obviously, you would have had the chance to swim along with the corals, the varied marine life in beaches more than one. But what if you could swim alongside a few sharks? Sounds like an adventure that will give you a high rush of blood pressure. Sharks Nursery towards the South Denpasar in Serangan Island is where you need to be for you to be able to swim with black and white tip reef sharks. This nursery is where the sharks are being protected from illegal poaching.

Cooldown at the waterbom

Waterbom theme park which is the number 1 on Asia’s list of best waterparks while it stands on 5 among all waterparks in the world. Obviously there is a reason why it tops the list, it sure will be worthy enough to find out why. Include a visit to this park and ride on some exciting waterslides and get on with heart-beating adventures.

Make your own perfume

Not a lot of people are aware of this fun activity that you can engage in at L’Atelier Parfums et Créations to make your own perfumes. It's a short process where you will start off by picking basic ingredients and then learn how a scent is built around it and then finally you would have your own customized scent ready. You can order as many as you want and the best part of this is that the ingredients may not be available anywhere else in the world. If you're wondering where this shop is located, it's in the south of Kuta in benoa.

This is a very short list of the things one can do in Bali and yes this will surely not be the touristy path that you find out often. You will surely find many more experiences like these that will take you off -path and surprise you if you would just dig a little deeper. Well, obviously you can also make a customized Bali tour for yourself and get more ideas while you take a travel agent's help as well.
